Customer experienced cross threading, contaminated nut threads and assembly damage due to necessary rework.
The standard machine screw with nylon patch was replaced by a 7/16-20 CORFLEX®-‘I’ TAPTITE 2000® fastener.
The use of CORFLEX®-‘I’ TAPTITE 2000® fasteners in place of machine screws eliminated the need and cost of the nylon patch. TAPTITE 2000® fasteners form their own threads therefore eliminating any cross threading and contamination in the nut threads. TAPTITE 2000® fasteners also allowed for more accurate component location in the robotic assembly, provided enhanced joint integrity and security and reduced the return of seat belt assemblies for bolt replacement.
