Original design used 10-24 x 1/2" machine screws with lockwashers. Cross-threading occurred quite often and the lockwasher did not effectively keep handles tight.
Use of 10-24 TAPTITE® thread rolling screws directly into the cored holes of the die cast handles. Cross-threading was eliminated. The need for the sems lockwasher was eliminated.
