The seat pan assembly is manufactured from four pressings. The assembly is robotically assembled on jigs. The original attachment points required weld nuts necessitating a sub-assembly station. Also, the four components could not be jig located accurately relative to the fixing centers
The current machine bolts and weld nuts were replaced with M8 x 20mm TAPTITE® fasteners into extruded holes.
Eliminated four weld nuts, which in turn eliminated the sub-assembly station. Cross-threading during the assembly of the seat tracks to the seat pan was eliminated as TAPTITE® fasteners produce their own internal thread. Also, the addition of the extruded holes ensured more accurate jigging of the components, making assembly of the seat track on the production line more accurate.
